Directions: 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degree F. Line two cake pans with butter, dusted with flour and set aside. You can use parchment paper as well for prepping up the cake pan.
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together. Set aside.
  3. Take a large bowl and mixer. Bear butter and sugar at medium-high speed until foamy. Scrape the sides and bottom. Now, add oil, egg yolks, vanilla extract and vinegar. Beat these on high for approximately minutes. Scrape down the sides and set aside. (Do not throw away the egg whites).
  4. With the mixer on low speed, add dry ingredients into the wet ingredients in 2-3 batches alternating with buttermilk. Add in red food coloring as desired. Then, beat in the egg whites at high until peak forms and mix with the cake batter. Your cake batter will be slightly thick.
  5. Divide the batter into cake pans and bake for half an hour or so. Keep rotating pans for even baking, do not overbake the cake.
  6. Completely cool down the cake.

  • ⅓ cup whole milk
